

Evelyn Carroll Grosse, 91, of Pensacola, FL passed away at her home on Monday, August 16, 2021. Born on January 28, 1930 at St. John’s hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Evelyn was the daughter of the late Agnes and Eugene Carroll. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Donald and their son Donald “Chip” Grosse.
Evelyn was a graduate of St Catherine’s Academy and Grace School of Business. Her working career encompassed, Advertising with Bristol-Meyers on Fifth Avenue in NY, a real Estate Broker in Oakland, NJ, a legal secretary with American Cyanamid and after relocating to Pensacola, she started a career at the University of West Florida as an Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs from 1976 until her retirement in 1996.
Evelyn is survived by her children Jeffrey D Grosse (Sharon)of Staten Island, William T Grosse (Gabi)of Pensacola, Laura Grosse Hatfield (Gary) of Maryland and Ted M Grosse (Stacy)of Pensacola; 11 Grandchildren Jeffrey Grosse (Diana), Michael Negron, Matthew Grosse, Kimberly Nguyen (George), Daniel Grosse (Laura), Kristen Wright (Brad), Alison Burdett (Ben), Alex Grosse, Justin Grosse (Amy), Sierra Bass (Thomas) and Steven Bass (Skye). She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren.
Evelyn was a devote Christian and member of Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church where she taught CCD and preparation for the sacrament of First Holy Communion. Evelyn also volunteered for many years, after retirement at the UWF radio station reading to the blind.
Evelyn had many, many friends throughout her life. Preceded in death by her lifelong best friend Sue Filhart. Friends who became family, Angie, Helen and Mardi, and her weekly Quiddler friends, Mercedes, Claire, and Mickey.
The care given to Evelyn by VITAS hospice was exceptional. Her love for her church, Nativity was unconditional.

Due to circumstance beyond our control, a Mass of the Christian Burial will be delayed until October. At that time, Evelyn will be interned with her husband, Donald at Bayview, Fisher Pou, Pensacola.
