Mrs. Tucker was born in Donalsonville Georgia on January 15, 1944. She moved to Pensacola from South Georgia in 1962 where she met her kindred spirit Larry Gene Tucker. They were happily married for 32 years until Larry was called to be with our Father in heaven. Etta held her marriage vows close to her heart, for in it they were still connected. Then God favored to reunite their souls and He took her home.
She was a lifelong employee at Southern Bell before she retired in 1990 after 27 years of service. Etta was a very hard working, diligent professional who progressed from an entry level position as an operator to an engineer with the company. She was the first female engineer with Southern Bell in Pensacola. After her retirement, she obtained her professional license as a skin care specialist and worked at Jan Davis Salon in Pace, Florida as an esthetician.
Etta has a son, Mel Tucker whom she inspired through a life of kindness, hard work and good deeds. She was a proud Grandmother to Taylor Tucker whom she adored and nurtured with all of her heart. Family was a very important part of her life. She was the tenth child of thirteen children born to Eva and Franklin Bartow Faircloth of Donalsonville Georgia. She has always maintained this very close connection and held in high regard the importance of family and community. She attended Olive Baptist Church and served as director for the children’s choir.
Etta is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Mel and Edwina Tucker of New York, New York, her granddaughter Taylor Tucker of Florence, Alabama, her sisters Amanda Sue Preston of Pensacola, Florida and Charlotte Phillips of Donalsonville, Georgia, and her brother Marshall Faircloth of Tallahassee, Florida.
The funeral services are scheduled at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel on Friday July 21st. The funeral service will begin at 3:00. A visitation will be offered at 1:00 for family and 2:00 for friends of the family.
