She was born in Oneonta, New York, to Bartley and Ada Sheldon on December 29, 1933. She married Roland H. Clark in September 1954, and they were married for 40 wonderful years. Dorothy moved from Delhi, New York to Pensacola, Florida in 2002 to be closer to her daughter and her family.
Dorothy (Dot) was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, nana, aunt and friend. She worked as a Telephone Operator in Delhi, NY for many years and retired as a Chief Operator upon the computerization of the telephone operator system. She also worked at the ARC in Walton, NY, and then upon moving to Pensacola, FL, she worked another 10 years as a Walmart associate in the fabrics and crafts department. She loved her family so very much. She enjoyed her grandchildren immensely and was always wanting to help others even to the end. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, cooking, and baking.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Roland, her parents Bartley and Ada Sheldon, her brothers, Winfield (Ruth), Bartley (Cynthia), and Everett (Mary) and her sister Grace (Ralph/Earl).
She is survived by her son Gary Clark – North Augusta, SC., her daughter Lynette (Lewis) Capehart – Pensacola, Florida, and her sister Donna Decker (late husband Paul) –Chambersburg, PA. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren (Kyle and Zachary Capehart), and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been entrusted to Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 N New Warrington Road, Pensacola, Florida 32506.
A burial service will be held next summer in Franklin, New York.
