Ella, you are truly a blessed woman. The love that you and Dewey shared, and openly demonstrated was divinely orchestrated. Thank you for sharing your love for one another openly and unapologetically. I pray that the Lord will continue to give you the strength to face each new day with grace. So long my friend.  I never got a chance to say.  "I Understand Now" with our woes behind us.   Dewey did things in his life that others wish they could.  He was knowledgeable about many things and I appreciated that about him.  He even tried to help me get extra credit in my astronomy course, but I didn't have the talent for the stars that he had.  We worked together at the Central Warehouse, just a short time.  In that short time, I knew that he loved Ella because most of our conversations were about her.  I remember having conversations over "Rosewe Catalogs" and wat not.   Just know Dewey, that I had your back even when it didn't look like it.  Especially in the aftermath, people wouldn't  believe what we went through.  They'd have to experience it for themselves.  Rest easy on that "Green Comet"

My sincere condolences to you Ella and your entire family.  May God continue to bless you and your family.   Dewey will always be with you because Love is what he gave to you and that is God's ultimate Plan.  

At Scenic Heights Elementary School, Dewey presents a Gaileoscope, equipped with solar filter, to the principal and science chair of the school at their science night in 2016, just before the big eclipse next year.

At the WSRE sponsored National Teacher Training Institute in 2009, Dewey and teasurer Jim Larduskey discuss the observing program of the Escambia Amateur Astronomers.  As our observing chair for two decades, Dewey used his connections with both PJC and the Escambia schools to schedule dozens of school gazes and science nights yearly.  He had fall back demos if skies clouded us out, and distributed thousands of copies of the current northern hemisphere skymap from www.skymaps.com and taught students how to use them to learn their way around the night sky, and in preparation for the 2017 solar eclipse, gave out over 100 Galileoscopes, built by members of our student chapter, to local schools with safe solar filters provided by Merry's Draco Productions.

For the Greater Good!  Music Festival on Coldwater Creek was a fun event for families, and Dewy shared the music, food, and solar sights with the crowd.

With Ranger Beckie Mims, Dewey was interviewed by Jill Hubbs and WSRE for their Emmy Winning "Treatures of the Gulf Coast" video, narrated by Ken Burns in 2009. Dewey I will miss you my friend! I remember when I first met you and you were picking up supplies for then  PJC before coming to work full time at the warehouse.  You fit right in with our motley crew as if you had always been there! 24 years went by in a flash and we had worked through many a difficult time from removing a ton of ice from the 20 degree below zero freeze floor to picking literally thousands of tons of food and supplies for all the Escambia County schools.  Dewey you worked tirelessly to make all of our customers happy and always left them feeling like someone cared about what they were going through.  I’m sorry you weren’t able to supervise my home remodel and I’m positive we would have had a great time! Love you Dewey you were like a brother to me!

To Ella and Family, I am so sorry for your loss.  I met Dewey years ago when he worked at PJC (now PSC).  He's never met a stranger.  He would strike up a conversation with you whether you knew him or not.  He was proud of his coin collection.  He was also passion about astronomy.  Unfortunately, I haven't seen Dewey in years, but I know he couldn't have changed much because he was a genuine person with a beautiful spirit. He was always friendly and kind-hearted. Dewey will be missed by so many.  Praying for Ella and the entire family.  May God wrap His arms around you and give you peace and comfort today and the days ahead.  Blessing on you.

My heart is so broken right now.  Most remember Dewey as an adult but I was the lucky one that got to watch him grow up into the amazing person he had become.  Whenever is was interested in anything he put his whole heart into it.  Dewey grew up into an amazing and caring person.  I miss him so much already.

Dewey and I worked together for almost 20 years at the School District Warehouse. He was an excellent employee in every position that he filled. He progressed rapidly in every job, gaining the confidence of his fellow workers and management. It was my pleasure as Warehouse Manager to see Dewey grow and become a pillar of the Warehouse  staff, and one of my most trusted and capable mangers. I cherished him as a friend and valued his advice. He was well respected by all.

To the family and special loving wife Ella, I'm sorry to hear that Dewey answered the call from God but, he was ready to join the star gazers of eternity. Rest Dewey from all your earthly duties that you  enjoyed so much. You will be remembered.

I was another friend who knew Dewey through the stamp store and then through the Pensacola Philatelic Society. He was a kind and gracious friend who was always ready to share his knowledge .  Warm and friendly he encouraged all he met. Like all the other members of the stamp club, I will miss his cheerful influence. I found him to be a quiet, genuine Christian gentleman, and pray for God to encourage and sustain his dear wife Ella .  Until we meet again!

Dewey was an amazing man who will be missed.  So sad that the beautiful love story with his wonderful wife Ella came to a premature end. They shared a love not everyone is lucky enough to find.   💜 
 
I met Dewey 20 years ago in his “stamp expert” persona.  The wealth of knowledge he had and his patience and diligence in answering my questions were incredible.  I would ask  “Dewey, did the US ever issue a stamp on XYZ topic?”  He could invariably give me an answer and put his fingers on the stamp.  Or,  he might tell me there wasn’t a stamp on that topic but he could find something tangentially related and give me a little history to boot.  Although I was a postage-user and not a collector, he taught me a lot about stamps that made me appreciate them so much more.    

Later he piqued my interest in the star gazes.  We attended some and later took several of our exchange students to the events.  I still remember tearing up the first time he showed me Saturn’s rings.  🪐  

Rest In Peace Dewey.  Thank you for who you were.   You will live on in the hearts of those who love you.

I had the pleasure of calling Dewey, friend, for the past 6 years. I met his wife, Ella, at Pensacon. She introduced my family and I to Dewey. He was always excited about meeting Star Trek actors and celebrities associated with his favorite genres. He would talk to me with passion about his love for Astronomy. I know absolutely nothing about the cosmos, but I listened and envied in the thought that I wish I could have that much passion about something. He was always so kind and treated us like family. Pensacon is next month…it will not be the same without Dewey. Thank you, Dewey, for the memories, the stories and your friendship. 

I've had the privilege of being Dewey's friend for over 30 years and I'm deeply saddened by his early departure from this earth.  I'll never forget my last visit and talk with him and Ella a few days ago.  Even in her sadness Ella can be proud she was such a loving pillar of support to Dewey during all his health battles, past and current.  God gifted her with a smile that just lights up a room.   
Dewey was a very accomplished stamp collector and stamp dealer; actually an expert in that field, and served as our Pensacola stamp club President for many years.  I know he was an avid and active student of astronomy, and many will miss his presence and enthusiasm.  Dewey, I believe you are safely in the arms of God now. Even in my tears of sadness I gladly look forward to seeing you again!   The universe you admired and studied is now ALL YOURS, my friend!
