David (Dave) James Cranston, 78, of Pensacola, passed away on May 18, 2016. He served 20 years in the U.S. Army reaching CW02 before retirement. He was also in the business of shoe sales in Philadelphia, PN, a man who knew all there was to know about fine shoe wear.
He was born in Cortland, NY. He relocated to Pensacola in 2001 at which time he married Beverly Jean Tyler Stewart, a high school classmate. He enjoyed working in his yard and planting all types of flowers, loved to play golf, and enjoyed working his crossword and any other challenging mind games. He will truly be missed by his extended family and friends. He loved his family time especially when it came to all his grandchildren, we love you. He was a member of Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Kathleen Ambruso Cranston, parents, Grace Knight and David Elnathan Cranston, and sister Grace Colgrove.
He is survived by his wife Beverly Jean, son David E. Cranston and wife Daicy, grandchildren, David J., Jaden and Kailyn Cranston, Zach, Tara, and Tiffany Tyler; great grandchildren; Rachael, James Dean and Storie Sheppard, along with other family members. He is also survived by the only cat of his life – Sweetie – who is already missing him dearly.
Pallbearers will be Dave E. Cranston, Dave J. Cranston, Todd Tyler, Gregg Tyler, Scott Dean, and Richard Ezell.
Visitation will be on May 25, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00am at Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church with a funeral service to follow at 11:00am. Reverend Riley Richardson will be officiating and interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 12:30pm. A Reception will be held back at the church after interment.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church.
