Darrell Roy Rasmussen passed Friday, April 10th, 2015 from a short battle with brain cancer at the age of 73. He was at his home surrounded by loved ones in Pensacola, Fl. Darrell was born in Michigan and raised in Sturgeon Bay, WI, where much of his family still resides, and where he met and married his loving wife, Sandra Rasmussen in 1960. A retired US Navy Veteran of 21 years, Darrell traveled to all 50 states while he raised his four children. He traveled while bowling in National Tournaments for 27 years, was an avid fisherman, and was known to be an extreme fan of the Green Bay Packers. Most recently he served as a Sgt. for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department Parking Enforcement. Darrell is preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Merton Rasmussen, his son Darrell “D.R.” Rasmussen, and his granddaughter Renee Rasmussen.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra, his children: Kay, Bobby, and Cindy, grandchildren: Robby, Ian, Angela, Fisher, Bayley, and Emily, and great-granddaughters: Addy and Paige all of Pensacola, Fl, and his siblings: Gary, Darla, Merle, Mary Jo, and Donnie all of Wisconsin.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM- 12 PM on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens Chapel, with services to follow immediately. Darrell asked that everyone wear their Packers attire (green and gold) to attend his life celebration. GO PACK!
