On December 1, 2022, Clinton “Mac” McDuffie went home to be with the Lord at the age of 66. Despite the many challenges life presented to Clinton, he never failed to find the courage to face adversity with a smile and always found the positive in any situation. He never met a stranger, and somehow always had the right words to offer guidance and comfort to anyone and everyone. We were all extremely blessed to have had him in our lives.
Clinton was born on May 20, 1956 in Manhattan, NY to Viola McDuffie. After graduating from high school, Clinton joined the United States Navy, where he proudly served for 20 years. As an Aircraft Handler aboard the USS Midway, he had the opportunity to see the world, visiting nearly every continent in the process. While stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, Clinton met his wife of 40 years, Sonoko, with whom he had three children, Erica, Jamie, and Anika.
An avid decorator, Clinton always looked for ways to make his home more beautiful for his family. He loved delicious food and fellowship, never missed an opportunity to celebrate life, and was always the life of the party.
Clinton was preceded in death by his mother, Viola, his sister, Sharon, and his brother, Sammy Lee. He is survived by his wife, Sonoko, their three children, Erica, Jamie (Staci), and Anika (Timothy) and four grandchildren, Mya, Jackson, Kyngston, and Breilynn. Also among those who will miss him dearly are his brothers, Gregory and Kevin, his cousin, Cheryl (James), and countless others.
A huge thank you to Pastor Vincent Warren, Roy and Alma Scott, Heirs of the Kingdom Church International, Barbara Francis, Cheryl Kennedy, Dr. Goldsmith and the team of nurses at West Florida Hospital, and Bayview Funeral Home.
