Chelcy Holloway Story

Mrs. Story was born February 12, 1919 in Atkins, Arkansas to Henry Holloway and Eula Haynes Holloway. When she was 11 years old her mother passed away and Chelcy quit school to raise her younger brother while her father worked. Eventually she finished school and graduated from Pensacola Junior College in 1974. In 1954 she moved to Pensacola where she became a member of East Hill Baptist Church where she was very active. Mrs. Story enjoyed teaching Sunday School to the church’s youth and in later years was president of the Senior Sunday School Class. She worked at Baptist Hospital from which she retired after 23 years of service. In 1986 she moved to Tallahassee, Florida where she joined the East Hill Baptist Church of Tallahassee.

On January 01, 1974, her beloved husband, John Samuel Story, passed away. Also preceding her in death are her two brothers, Robert “Neal” Holloway and Oscar Holloway.

Mrs. Story is survived by her son, John S. Story and wife, Monica of Lewiston, Maine; daughter, Barbara Story Sofge and husband, Roger of McDonough, Georgia; brother, Ed Holloway of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Meredith Jane Story, Samuel Paul Story, Jacob Ryan Story, Eric Hunter Sofge, Mary Ann Sofge and Jennifer Lyn Sofge; nieces, Beth Story Moore and Judy Story Green; nephews, Jim Story, John Story and Tom Story; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Rev. Mark Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Saturday.
