Catherine Ann Squires Hunt

Catherine Ann Squires Hunt, or Cathy to her friends and family, was born on January 19, 1947. She received her wings on Thursday February 18, 2016. She grew up in Pensacola, FL and graduated from Pensacola High School in 1965, received her Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Florida State University, and finally a Master’s degree in History from University of West Florida in 1992. She traveled in her younger years before eventually moving to Chumuckla in Santa Rosa County to settle down. She was a loving, giving, warm-hearted woman who accomplished so much in her life. She loved her family, her friends, her animals, and her farm.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Drs. Raymond and Gretchen Squires; her former mother-in-law,Frances Hunt; her former sister-in-law, Kimberly Hunt; and her former brother-in-law, Kenneth Hunt.

She is survived by her children, Cecil R., Rachel J., Kristen M. and Teri F.; her grandchildren, Raylee J. Holcomb, Forrest W., Kevin F. and Steven R. Martin; her brother and his wife, Dr. Raymond J. and Jeannine Squires; her nieces, Jeannette and husband Hakan Okur, and Margaret Squires and husband Ned Dowling; her grand-nieces, Beyza and Meryem Okur; and grand-nephew, Ari Dowling; her surrogate sister, Barbara Moore; countless surrogate children, and her four-legged children. Cathy will be greatly missed by those she has left behind.

There will be a celebration of life service at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 27th at the Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel at Bayview Memorial Park; located at 3351 Scenic Hwy in Pensacola, FL. The family would ask that if you prefer to donate funds in support of the ASPCA or Humane Society in Catherine’s name, in lieu of flowers, that would be appreciated as they were two of her favored organizations.
