Robert (Bob) Francis Duffy, age 77, of Cantonment, Florida peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on June 9, 1944, in Pittsburgh as the son of the late F. Raymond and Margaret C. (Lang) Duffy. Bob was married on May 3, 1991, to his devoted wife Ginny Hall Duffy, who survives.
Before entering the Army, Bob received a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University. He was a decorated Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War as a 1st Lieutenant. For his bravery in battle, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, and Bronze Star Medal (V). He loved bragging about being a “Jungle Expert” based on his training in the Panama Canal.
After retiring from the US Postal Service, he and Ginny enjoyed golf, RV-ing and visiting with family and friends. They were joined in these endeavors with Tipper, their faithful fur baby. And all three enjoyed cheering on Florida State and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
With Bob’s outgoing personality, he never met a stranger. They were active members of Windy Hill Baptist Church where he was a deacon and member of the mission evangelism team. Bob’s love for the Lord extended to several Macedonia mission trips with Brother Shofner. Working together with Brother Jimmy, they shared the love of Christ with the people of Macedonia.
Bob was the proud father of one surviving son, Kevin Duffy, PhD and his wife Reverend Cathy Duffy, and two grandchildren: Brittney Duffy and Sophie Duffy of Peoria, Illinois. Bob is also survived by his sister Blanche Pitchford of Texas, sister-in-law Deloris Beasley, brother-in-law Elbert Hall, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bill (June) Duffy, sister Anne Russo, brother-in-law George Pitchford, mother-in-law Elva Hall, father-in-law Elbert Hall, brother-in-law James Beasley, and sister-in-law Mariann Hall.
