Betty White, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the age of 89. Born in Redding, California to William Henry and Florence Mae Wilson. Betty was the youngest of five children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. White & stepson Kenny White. She was the last remaining of her siblings, two brothers, Kent (June) Logan, William Logan, two sisters, Margaret (Larry) Cary and Wilda (Burt) Crouse. Betty is survived by her children, daughter Julie (Mark) Rowell, sons Kevin (Louanne) White, Larry (Tonya) Wilson, stepsons Casey (Deanna) Tierney and Jeff (Laura) White. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley Griffin, Elizabeth Woodfin, and Leah White. Step grandchildren, Zachary and Trevor Tierney. Great grandchildren, Kelsey and Kyler Griffin, Amyas and Dakari Kirkland, Jaden, Christopher and Isabella Sumler and great, great grandchildren Khari, Delando and Khavia Griffin. Betty grew up in Susanville, California earning a business degree from Lassen Junior College. Betty worked for Bank of America for 17 years, first in Susanville and Ventura, California and later as the head of the installment loan department in Oxnard. In 1970 she met and married Richard, a naval aviator and moved across the country to Arlington, Virginia where he was stationed. There she worked at the Center for Naval Analysis in Washington DC. After moving to Pensacola, Florida, she went to work for Exxon and within a few years transferred to the New Orleans branch where she remained until her retirement, working 25 happy years. After retiring, she and Richard moved back to Pensacola and bought their much loved retirement home on the water in Milton. She and Richard traveled extensively visiting many countries. Betty loved gardening, bird watching, painting and volunteered many hours with the wildlife sanctuary in Pensacola, often bringing baby birds or squirrels home to feed. In her later years, it was her grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren that brought her the most joy. A special thank you to Kim Ferrell for the care she provided Betty in her last few months.
