Betty Veronica King was the second of three children, and the only girl, born to Kate and Paul Hollender on April 16, 1940 in Plymouth, Montserrat. She attended school in Montserrat and the neighboring island of Antigua. Upon the completion of her education, she moved to Vancouver B.C to join her elder brother, Basil. She soon returned to the Caribbean, where she worked in the nascent airline business. It was there she married David Price with whom she had two sons, Kirwan and Sean. On September 2, 1975, she married the love of her life, John E. King III, the C.O. of U.S. Naval Air Station Antigua. They relocated to Fairfax, Virginia, where Betty gave birth to her third son, John-Paul. Following her husband’s tour of duty in Haverfordwest, Wales, she and her family settled in Pensacola, Florida in 1982. She worked with great success in the mortgage business before retiring to her home in Gulf Breeze. She was an avid writer, a cyclist and runner, and above all, a devoted wife and mother. She adored and treasured her heritage and birthplace. She passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 46 wonderful years, John, two of her sons, Kirwan and John-Paul, their wives, Rachel and Trish, their children, Josh, Katelauren, Sarah, Christian, Carly, Sydney and Polly, her younger brother, Brian, her cousins, Ann and Ariel, and her step-daughters, Lori and Ann.
