Betty Wood Jacques was born to Ora H. Wood and Flora Wood (Roque) of Pensacola, Florida. Her father was an engineer for the L&N Railroad until his retirement and her mother was a homemaker. Her siblings are, Marie Harris, June Harris, and Alma Fraser. They all preceded her in death. Betty considered it rude for anyone to ask her age so she will be remembered as “Forever Young”.
She was married to Commander Ephraim Oliver Jacques (Ollie). Betty’s three step children are Arthur Jacques, Philip Jacques and Karen Case. She has six nephews and five nieces.
She graduated from Tate High School and received a business degree from Pensacola Junior College. Betty was the head accountant at Eglin Air Force Base and Pensacola Naval Air Station and retired from Civil Service. Betty traveled the world and was a member of the Elkettes Lodge #2108 in Pensacola, Florida. She enjoyed socializing, dancing and playing bridge with her friends.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Sabal House and Emerald Coast Hospice for their loving care, compassion and skills bestowed upon our beloved (forever young) aunt Betty.
A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held at 9:00 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2017 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
Flowers are welcome or donations to Emerald Coast Hospice will be greatly appreciated.
