Mrs. Barbara J. Barnes Douglas was escorted by the angels to her Lord and Savior on March 31,2024 to her eternal home. She was born on January 24, 1934 to her loving parents Eula and Travis Barnes in Pensacola, Fl.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory daughters Robin Alford, Diane Reynolds (Doug), sisters-in-law Betty Barnes and Louise Mangum, a niece Lisa Moffett (Eddie), a nephew Jimmy Barnes (Mary) and a host of grandnieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years James R. “‘Bob” Douglas, her parents Eula and Travis Barnes Sr, her son-in -law Glen “Sam” Alford and her beloved brother Travis J. “Jim” Barnes Jr.
Barbara graduated Pensacola High School and received certification from Pensacola Jr. College in dental assisting. Barbara was a dedicated career woman working over 50 years in the dental and medical fields.
Barbara loved her Lord and family and lovingly served them both. She was a charter member of Brownsville Baptist Church and served for many years as the Superintendent of the Single Young People’s Sunday School Class and made a lasting influence on so many young lives. She is currently a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church where she served and attended faithfully until her failing health. She so loved her church family and they loved her.
Her family would like to thank all that ministered to our mother in her final days, especially those on Wing “C” at Specialty Care Rehabilitation and Covenant Care Hospice.
A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family.
