Paul was born February 16, 1922 in Penn Yan to Bert and Lillian Dailey. He graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1941 and then served in the US Marine Corps during World War II, along with three of his brothers, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired as a boiler operator at the NYSE&G Greenidge Station in Dresden, NY.
He was very active with the Penn Yan VFW Post 745, the Johnson-Costello American Legion Post 355, the Penn Yan Elks’ Lodge #1722, and was a Charter member of the Penn Yan Moose Lodge #2030. He also received an award for donating a record amount of blood to the American Red Cross.
Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Joanne; children, Sheralyn (Robert) Fox, Bert (Linda) Dailey, Marcia (Steve Breuer) Dailey, Jeffery (Karen) Dailey, Donald Dailey and Ronald Dailey; daughter-in-law, Jody Vail Dailey; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, his son, Paul, and his brothers, Harold, Carlton, Edward, and Emmett.
Friends and family may call from 10AM-12PM on Saturday, December 17th, 2011 at the Penn Yan United Methodist Church, where his funeral will follow at Noon. Private interment at Lakeview Cemetery in Penn Yan will be held at the convenience of the family.
