Ida Schiek

Ida Schiek, 94, of Penn Yan, NY passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Homestead Nursing Home.

Friends and family may call on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 9:00-11:00am at the Penn Yan United Methodist Church, 166 Main St., Penn Yan, NY. Ida’s service will be at 11:00am with Rev. Childs officiating. Interment will be in the Schiek family plot at the Bellona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ida’s name to the Penn Yan United Methodist Church.

Ida was born on May 1, 1918 in the Town of Potter, to the late Clarence & Florence VanHuben Boyce. She moved to Penn Yan in 1947 and married her husband Robert Schiek on January 1, 1948. Ida, a homemaker, also enjoyed tending to her gardens & flowers. She was very active at the Methodist Church; she sang in the choir and was the head of the kitchen committee. She was also part of the Wesleyan Service Guild.

She is survived by her husband Robert of 64 years; children – David Schiek, Penny Schiek & Ronald (Kris) Schiek; and grandchildren – David, Jeffrey & Kaitlyn Schiek.
