Helene Ann Becker, 59, a life long resident of Penn Yan, died May 23rd of natural causes. Helene was the daughter of Nicholas and Helene Tiballi of Penn Yan and was preceded in death by husband Randy Becker.
Helene graduated from Penn Yan Academy majoring in Science, Math and Latin. Her strong independent spirit served her well when she became the first girl to run on an all boys varsity track team and was also a member of the women's varsity cross country and cheerleading teams. While in school she was a model for Penn Yan Boats. She later graduated from Finger Lakes Community College with an Associates degree in Accounting. She worked as a bookkeeper in the family business, Yates Plumbing and Heating Supply, Inc. for many years.
Those who knew her will miss the way she greeted everyone with a smile and a joke. She loved telling stories and to make people laugh. She was a fierce, courageous and loyal friend. She inherited a love of learning from her parents, borrowing books on many topics from the Keuka College Library and taking classes on arts including painting, pottery and crochet.
Helene is survived by her children Andrea Tiballi and Todd Becker, granddaughter Viola, mother Mrs. Helene Agnes Tiballi, siblings Dr. Robert Tiballi, Dr. Gerard Tiballi, and Elizabeth Thompson as well as several nieces and nephews.
