On Tuesday evening at 6pm, June 19, Edith “Casey” Albertson passed away peacefully from this earthly life into the loving and waiting arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was 87 years young at her passing, bravely enduring several years of declining health.
Casey was born in Geneva, NY in 1925 and remained in the Finger Lakes area all her life. Her love of life gained her many friends over the years. Among her interest were a love for wild animals, especially enjoying owning and riding horses. Casey loved camping, gardening, Yankees baseball, and Syracuse basketball. Her outstanding ability at playing softball earned her the nickname “Casey” (the mighty Casey at bat).
Casey graduated from Keuka College and was a Registered Nurse. She retired as head nurse at Willard State Hospital in 1984, taking early retirement to care for her ailing husband, Paul.
Casey was also blessed with the gift of music, known widely as an accomplished pianist. Her extra ordinary ability was shown playing everything from Ragtime to Classics. Her love of church and gospel music led her to serve as church pianist at several churches in the area. Casey also toured professionally with the gospel group “The Sears Family”. She also loved playing for her many friends at St. Mark’s Terrace.
Casey was preceeded in death by her husband Paul E. Albertson Sr. and brothers Richard and Donald Balcom. She is survived by son Jack Albertson (Millie) of Penn Yan and son Paul Jr. of NY City. She also has a daughter Donna A. Creed (Edward) of North Carolina. Casey had six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
A life celebration will be held on Sunday, June 24, at 2:00pm at Bluff Point Methodist Church, Rev. Judy White officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. A special thanks to daughter-in-law Millie Albertson and granddaughter Laurie Prinzivalli for their loving care and devotion in her declining years. The family would also like to thank the Nursing Staff and Dr. Draxler of Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Dr. Chen and office staff for loving care and all of her caring friends.
