Donald R. Nielsen, 87, passed away at his home on Sunday morning, October 26, 2014.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Don at the Bluff Point United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 8 at 11:00am. Memorial donations may be made in Don's name to Bluff Point United Methodist Church or Finger Lakes Visiting Nurse Service - Hospice Care.
Don was born on October 5, 1927 in Penn Yan, NY to the late Nels “Peter” & Dagmar (Christensen) Nielsen. He was a Conservation Officer for 27 years. Don was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. He was very involved with: SCOPE, an officer of the Grape Country Coon Club for many years, Yates County Federation, Duck's Unlimited and a member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Meredith (Folts) Nielsen; children, Brenda (Richie) Austin, Dan (Jane) Nielsen, Jeffrey (Terri) Nielsen; he leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Don was predeceased by his siblings, Harold, Elmer, Helen, Carl and Ella.
