Deborah (Debbie) was born in Penn Yan, NY on July 13, 1951, to Jack R. and Patricia “Nan” (O’Brien) Logan. She was a 1969 graduate of South Cayuga Central School and a 1971 graduate of Auburn Community College. Deborah retired as a Program Analyst for the US Air Force and Air National Guard after 33 years of civilian service at the Pentagon in Washington DC. She was awarded the Outstanding Civil Career Award after Desert Storm. She was also one of the many that had been working at the Pentagon during the attacks on 9-11. She had been a member since 2008 of the Yates County Women Chapter of the NYS Women Inc. She enjoyed music, reading, making cards, and learning to play the piano. She will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
Debbie was married on June 17, 1974, to James O’Neil in Manassas, Virginia. Jimmy asked her to revew their vows on June 13, 2004, to celebrate 30 years of marriage. They always enjoyed traveling together and spending time with their friends and family.
Deborah is survived by her loving parents, Jack R. and Patricia “Nan” Logan of Penn Yan; brother, Richard W. Logan of Normal, IL; aunts and uncles, Nancy ‘Ann’ Fernardez, Lois Van Gorder, Bob and Polly Logan, Sandra Hoffman, Jim Logan, and Dorothy O’Brien; her beloved pets past and present; many loving and special cousins and friends in the Penn Yan/Branchport area and in Virginia where she and Jimmy made their home for many years. She was predeceased by her husband, James O’Neil; uncles, Don Fernardez, Lyle Van Gorder, Brian O’Brien, and Chet Hoffman; and her aunt, Gloria Logan.
A celebration of Deborah’s Life will be held at the Townsend Wood Funeral Home , 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan on Saturday, March 19th, 2016 at 11:00am. Interment will be at the convenience of her family at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Deborah’s memory to Modeste Bedient Memorial Library, 3699 Route 54A, Branchport, NY 14418-0239, Humane Society of Yates County, PO Box 12, Penn Yan, NY 14527 or to the Branchport-Keuka Park Fire Dept., 3686 State Rte. 54A, Branchport, NY 14418.
