Lamar accepted Christ at an early age. He was educated at Ragland School. He was a member of the Alabama National Guard Ashville Unit. He was employed by and retired from Ragland’s National Cement Company. Lamar was loved by everyone.
He leaves a multitude of memories to be cherished by his loving wife of forty-seven years Gladys Johnson Callahan. To this union two sons were born the late Juan Callahan and Ariel “Sylvia” Callahan, grandchildren Kiana, Dante’ and Madison of Cullman, Tyler, Jayda, Alex, Karlie one great granddaughter Hjordis all from Ragland. Two sisters Alice and Karen, two brothers Richard “Cyclone”, James “Diane” one sister-in-law Inez of Michigan, sisters-in-law Glenda “Ronnie”, Floretta, Florence “the late Leon” the late Jacqueline of Ashville, Arlene “Arthur” of Birmingham, brothers-in-law Phillip “Janice, the late Eddie “Clovia” of Gadsden, the late Norris of Ashville and Leonard “Rosemary of Moody, one uncle Rev. Jesse “Annie” Culpepper from Birmingham, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Bible Way Church in Ragland with internment at Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery, Ragland. Bishop Mitchell Jordan of Bible Way Church of Ragland, will preside. Viewing will be 4:00-6:00p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Kilgroe Funeral Home of Pell City.
Pallbearers will be family and friends and flower bearers will be nieces and friends.
