J. W. is survived by his daughter: Karen Garrett Williams (Mark); sons: Jerry W. Garrett, Jr (Debbie), David W. Garrett (Violet) and Donald W. Garrett (Renee); grandchildren: Jason Garrett (Amy), Rachel Herren (Josh), Joshua Garrett, Matthew Garrett, Brittney Hyde (Taylor), Hannah Powell (Will) and Jacob Garrett; great grandchildren: Madelynn and Claire Garrett, Ariel Mays (Ricky), Audrey and Gabriel Herren, McKenzie and Bentley Bridges; and his great-great grandchildren: Aiden Arellano and Hadlee Garrett.

J. W. was preceded in death by his wife: Helen Marie Welch Garrett; father: Leonard Buford Garrett, Sr.; mother: Alice Garrett Williams; sister: Frances Garrett Stupek; and brothers: Leonard Buford Garrett, Jr and James Earl Garrett.

A visitation for J. W. will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Kilgroe Funeral Home with a celebration of life funeral to follow. Interment will occur Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Boykin Truitt Cemetery.
