December 26, 2020. His family and loved ones rejoice in knowing that he has begun his new life in
Heaven.
Graveside service will be held at Blue Eye Cemetery on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at 2:00 pm with
Mr. Bill Butterworth and Pastor Randy Howell officiating. Kilgroe Funeral Home of Pell City will be
handling the funeral arrangements.
Mr. Bullock was born in Jacksonville, AL, to James Edward and Jewel Bedwell Bullock. He went to
and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1955. He then married the love of his life, Bettye Jo
Stine. He served in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Division. He received the Parachutist
Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked at Newberry Manufacturing as a Foreman until
their closing, when he began working at Southern Ductile Cast Iron and Steel as the Quality Control
Supervisor/Manager. He worked with Southern Ductile until his retirement.
Mr. Bullock was a member of Lincoln Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon at Lincoln Baptist, as
well as serving at Refuge Baptist. He loved to work in his vegetable and flower gardens, and won
the City of Lincoln Beautification Award for several years. He was also well known for his
outstanding tomatoes. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His greatest joy came from sharing
his interests and time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was often
heard saying that spending family time together was what it’s all about.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Jewel B. Bullock; brothers, Rudolf,
Louis, and Edward Bullock; mother-in-law, Eva Stine; and brother-in-law, Bobby Crump.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Bettye Jo Bullock; children, Jonathan Bullock
(Rebecca), Donna Johnson (Leonard); grandchildren, Joshua Bullock, James Johnson (Katie),
Jordan Bullock (Julia), Joseph Johnson (Whitney), and Jacob Johnson; great-grandchildren,
Jaiden, Jonah, and Jayleigh Bullock; siblings, Billy Joe Bullock (Bonnie), Patsy Tate (Staten), Alice
Faye Hopper (Frank); and sisters-in-law, Jackie Crump, and Ginger Homesley (Jim).
Pallbearers will be Joshua Bullock, James Johnson, Jordan Bullock, Joseph Johnson, Jacob
Johnson, and Larry Phillips. Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for the loving care shown to him
during his illness.
