

She was born November 17, 1935 in Ragland, AL to Hattie Lee and Thomas Williams, Sr. Charlotte attended Ragland High School before studying at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and then began her career as a manager at the Social Security Administration. A few years later she became a business owner and opened “C” Shoppe Ceramics where she taught ceramic classes and won numerous awards for her talent as a ceramicist and artist. After that Charlotte retired to enjoy her dream of living the lake life at Lay Lake.
She was a devoted mother to Candace Rayfield, Greg Yakoumis (and Yami) and Paula Carney (and Bruce), her pride and joy. She always said their birth changed her life for the better, and they felt that in the love and support she provided. Charlotte took special joy in her role as the state Ladies Auxiliary president for Dixie Youth Baseball when her children were young. She was an avid bowler and won many tournaments in her early years. She loved her rose gardens and won numerous blue ribbons for entering her show stopping roses in statewide competitions.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her daughter Paula Carney, her mother Hattie Lee Williams, her father Thomas Williams, Sr., her brothers Tom Williams, Jim Williams, Perrigin Williams, and David Williams.
She is survived by her sister Melissa Herren, who will never forget the love she brought.
Charlotte had seven grandchildren, Jacquelyn Brewer (and Otto), John Michael Yakoumis (and Marianna), Gigi Yakoumis, Jared Gathings, Dr. Hillary Smith (and Dr. Mark Smith), Patrick Carney and Olivia Carney. She also had nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild that she dearly loved.
A graveside service for Charlotte will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Creekside Christian Church, 61 Church Street, Ragland, AL followed by a gathering of friends and family at Hardin’s Chapel Bible Church in Ragland, AL
