Tim was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1960. He graduated Elmhurst College in 1982 with a degree in business administration and management.
Tim has held numerous positions over his 36 years with Motion Industries and Berry Bearing Company, climbing the professional ladder with hard work and determination to become President and CEO of Motion Industries, a subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company (GPC). Tim was a past president of the Bearing Specialist Association (BSA), was involved in numerous committees including the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA), and was on the board of Junior Achievement of Greater Birmingham.
Tim’s generous heart, kindness, work ethic, and humor made him a beloved friend and family member. He was an avid golfer, camper, and enjoyed boating and watching sports, especially Notre Dame and the Chicago Cubs. Tim loved to travel and was recently able to spend a few weeks in Europe with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ranea Breen of Birmingham, and his children of Chicago, Ashley DiGiannantonio (Mike) and Tim Breen Jr. Other family members include his father Roger Micus (Jackie), and siblings Madeline Reininger (Steve), Larry Breen (Nancy), and Brian Breen (Kim). He is also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, and a host of longtime colleagues and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving mother Madeline Micus.
If you knew Tim personally, then you knew he lived the way he loved – with a full heart. His dying wish would be for everyone to do the same.
Tim has made an impact on many lives throughout the country, particularly in Alabama and Illinois. Therefore, the following services will be held:
Birmingham, Alabama – Asbury United Methodist Church - Friday, August 24th (viewing and visitation from 5:30pm-8:00pm), Saturday, August 25th (Funeral Service at 12:00pm)
Batavia, Illinois – Moss Family Funeral Home - Tuesday, September 11th (visitation from 12pm-6pm) followed by a Memorial Service at 6:30pm
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly encourages donations that help support victims and families of cancer. You may consider some of the following: Kidney Cancer Association (KCA), the American Red Cross, or the American Cancer Society.
