After graduating from Granger High School in West Valley City, Utah, Terry earned his Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama, Huntsville. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-1964, and was employed at many different engineering companies in his life. While living in Leeds, Alabama and Hoover, Alabama, he worked at United Chair and Southeastern Bolt and Screw. Later in Huntsville, Alabama, he was employed at Space Craft Inc. He retired from mechanical engineering with Delphi Automotive in Gadsden, Alabama in 2009.
In his leisure, Terry enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, supporting Alabama Crimson Tide football, and playing with his dog Wiley. He loved to travel. Throughout his life, he lived in many cities and towns in the United States, and he also served one year overseas.
Terry was preceded in death by his wife Tommie, to whom he was married on April 30, 1981; his parents, Alvin and Jean Rose; one daughter, Melinda Karn; and one son-in-law, Roy Karn.
Survivors include Terry's four children, Beverly K. Floyd, Laura (James) Ellis, Rebecca (Alan) Brandon, and Ashley (Tracy) Benefield; grandchildren, Joshua Johnson, Jeremy (Michelle) Johnson, Patrick (Kayla) Karn, Lindsey (David) Owen, Jenna Thompson, Ryan (Taylor) Benefield, Bailey Benefield, and Addison Thompson; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Danny (Jean) Rose; and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to the graveside service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.
