Teri JoAnne Nelson was born February 28, 1964, to the late William Clyde Sauer and Patricia Joan Sauer in Northridge, California. Teri received her formal education at University of California Northridge and Merritt School of Court reporting in Van Nuys, California. Teri was a member of Crossroads Christian Church prior to moving to Alabama. Teri J. Sauer was married to R. Brent Nelson on June 12, 1993 in Pomona, California. Their union was blessed with 2 children.
She was employed by Veritext Court Reporting Agency as a Certified Court Reporter for 35 years. Teri loved to travel and visit new places. Together, Teri and her family ventured to all but two of the western states, throughout the eastern and southern states, Alaska 3 times, and abroad to St. Lucia, Mexico, and Canada. Alaska is where she found her love for the moose and incorporated their silhouette throughout the house when decorating over the years. Teri was a huge foodie and loved watching cooking shows. When we travelled, she always found delicious places to eat that were local to those areas and not chain restaurants (mostly bakeries and ice cream shops). Teri loved her cats and had several Maine Coon cats over the years.
Teri so loved her boys. Watching them grow into young men gave her great pride (and anguish). On a whim she suggested that our eldest apply to the University of Alabama, little did she know where that harmless comment would take her and her family. She became a huge fan of the University of Alabama and glowed when both boys graduated with honors from the University. Teri couldn’t wait for fall to begin each year so she could watch Alabama football on Saturdays. Then on Sunday, watching Alabama players with their NFL teams compete against each other.
Teri loved to read and spend time with family. Her smile would light up a room and she worked tirelessly to ensure people felt at home. Teri never thought she touched the lives of others, yet everyone she came into contact with never forgot her. She was special in the kind of way we should all strive to be.
Teri held Court Reporting licenses in California, Alabama and with the National Court Reporting Association. Her most prized title was mother and wife; always putting family before herself.
