Sibyl was born to Burl and Leanna Page on November 24, 1930, in Old Hickory, TN. She graduated from DuPont High School and attended David Lipscomb College. She married David W. Claypool on August 9, 1951, in Old Hickory, and they raised 4 children together. David was a gospel preacher, and Sibyl took her role as a preacher’s and elder’s wife very seriously for over 70 years as he preached in many locations across the country. She was a wonderful “southern” cook, loved to sew, and taught innumerable Bible classes over the years. Many people would come to her and tell her they remembered the Bible classes she taught them as children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl and Leanna Page, her husband of over 70 years, David Claypool, and her great-grandson Marcus Wiggins.
Sibyl is survived by her children Melinda (Bill) Couchman, Melanie (Jim) Jonas, and Mark (Cindy) Claypool. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Erica Wiggins, Lauren Jonas, Marissa Glinkerman, Kaitlin Monroe, Andrew Jonas, and Grace Claypool. As well, she is survived by 6 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Wiggins, Jase Monroe, Levi, Carson, Landon Glinkerman, and Beau Jonas.
Sibyl's family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers from Compassus Hospice who were so attentive and good to her.
Pallbearers will be David Ginn, Whit Kennedy, Craig Maxson, Danny McGee, Brad Glinkerman, and Andrew Jonas.
