One of the fondest memories with my sister my friend Shelley was a concert we attended at the University of Montevallo back in the 70’s.  The Ozark Mountain Daredevils.  I remember one song that she really liked was called Leatherwood. About the master plan. A place of peace and harmony. I will forever miss my only sister.  Save me a seat to the most wonderful show in the universe Shelley. All my love, your brother Barry.

What a wonderful person Shelley was.  What a beautiful spirit.  She was absolutely loved by EVERYONE that knew her.  She will be missed greatly.

This is how I will remember my Aunt Shelley -- golden haired, athletic, tall, and sunny. She had the best laugh. She loved to joke, and even though she had grown up the only girl with four brothers, she was a girls' girl. She doted on me when I was little and was always surprising me with trips to the ballet, park, or pool days.

When my parents divorced and my mom went back to work,  Shelley would step in many mornings to make sure my sister and I ate breakfast and got to school. My mom was very disciplined about healthy eating, but Shelley would sneak us Fruit Loops and Cap'n Crunch or doughnuts sometimes, and that felt like such a special treat!

She would oftentimes pick me up from carline in her little silver coup, and I thought it was the coolest thing in the world that she had a sunroof. She'd open it up, and we would drive around singing songs and talking about boys -- her blonde hair floating in the wind.

I thought she was so gorgeous. She loved mountain biking and the arts and had lived for a while in Boston, and little girl Tonia thought that was so cosmopolitan. She told me she would whistle for cabs there, and she could do it with both pinkies in her mouth; it was her party trick, and I was delighted at how loudly she could do it! She would sometimes even bring me on dates before she married my Uncle Paul, and I knew she was making judgments based on whether or not her boyfriends doted on me the way she did. 😆

She would call or my grandmother would make films of me for her to watch when she was out of town, and I would ask, "Shelley, are you in there?" into the camcorder lens. I always wanted to know where she was and what she was up to. Although she was my dad's sister, she and my mother shared a deep friendship for decades. Her love was for everyone. It's poignant to think about how big of an impact small gestures make -- particularly to a child.

I am so sorry and heartbroken over the loss of my dear sweet cousin. 
I wish that I could be there with all of you for her funeral but unfortunately I can't.
Shelley will always have a very special place in my heart.

I always told her “she was my favorite sister”.  
She was always quick to reply that “she was my only sister”!
She loved and defended her family fiercely, and doted on her nieces and nephews! Heaven is celebrating a glorious homecoming with our Savior and our Dad.

I am so very sorry for your (our) loss.  While I did not often get to see and visit with Shelley in recent years, I have always had a special place in my heart for her.  She was always so kind and nice.  She was very special and she is and will be missed very much.  My love to the entire family.

Shelley was a dear friend and coworker.  We had lots of lunches, walks and laughs. She will be missed by all that loved her.  Rest in heavenly peace sweet Shelley. 💔

Shelley was my next door neighbor from the time I was 1 until we graduated high school.  I have so many memories of hot summer days playing outside all day, riding bikes, listening to music and dancing away at Phyllis Walker's or in the basement of Roger Slater.  We would go to the pool at the FOP lodge and spend all day looking at Teen Magazines and frying our bodies with baby oil.  She was a dear friend and we kept up through the years.  We would meet for lunch every so often and catch up.  I have missed her these past few years while she was sick, but I am glad she is no longer suffering.  She will always bring fond memories to my heart!

Paul, I am so heartbroken to hear about Shelley’s health decline and passing. She was such a wonderful friend and coworker at SNC. We had so many wonderful lunches and laughs together. I wish I were back in Alabama to attend the service.  I’m sending you a hug and hopes that happy memories will replace the grief you feel today.
