Sandra "Dale" Sumners

Dale graduated from BB Corner High School and received her undergraduate degree in education from the University of Montevallo and her master's degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was married to David Wayne Sumners on April 4, 1975.

Dale was a teacher with the Shelby County Schools System and touched many lives leaving a legacy of love. After retiring from the schools system, she worked for UAB Health Systems where she continued to make a huge impact on others. She was a dedicated member of Redemption Church in Chelsea and their Young at Hearts Group, and she had a passion for investing in and helping others, junking, antiquing, and her grandchildren.

Dale is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Sumners; her son, Cody Sumners, his wife, Jennifer Sumners, and their two children, Paul Sumners and Payton Sumners; and one daughter, Ashley Joseph, her husband, Seth Joseph, and their daughter, Bailey Drew Joseph.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Redemption Church in Chelsea from 4-5 p.m., followed by the Memorial Service at 5 p.m. at the church, 4176 County Road 39, Chelsea, AL 35043.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dale Sumners' memory be made to Redemption Church in Chelsea or to Hargis Christian Camp.
