WESCOTT, ROGER H., age 84, died Friday morning, October 29, 2010 after a long illness. He was born in Hamilton, Alabama, and grew up in Huntsville, Missouri. In mid-life, he lived and worked in Ohio, finally spending the last 40 years as a resident of Hoover, Alabama.
As a member of the 11th Airborne, Roger was a veteran of World War II during the liberation of the Philippines and the occupation of Japan. He was a longtime employee of the Drummond Company until his retirement in 1997.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Eliot James and Mary Louise Wescott of Huntsville, Missouri; brother, Eliot James Wescott Jr. of New Mexico; and sister, Louise Smith of Huntsville, Missouri.
Survivors include Roger's wife of 57 years, Betty Jo Wescott; son, Dale and wife Sonja Wescott of Oak Grove, Alabama; daughter, Marva and husband Jim Witter of Dallas, Texas; son, Gary Wescott of Hoover, Alabama; granddaughter, Samantha and husband Robert Dial of Livingston, Alabama; and grandson, Roger J. and wife Rachel Wescott of Rock Creek, Alabama.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. The graveside funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, in Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.
