On January 13, 2022, Selma, Alabama native Terry Hicks passed away peacefully after a brief, but valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by wife Jackie Meigs Hicks, daughter Kincey (Eduardo) Ribeiro, granddaughter Debora Ribeiro, brother Alan (Averee) Hicks, several brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son Meigs Hicks and parents Terrell and Barbara “Tutta” Hicks.
Terry graduated from A.G. Parrish High School in 1969. His undergraduate and post-graduate studies were at Auburn University as well as Wallace School of Nursing. He was a proud member of the KA fraternity at Auburn University.
Terry was an incredible husband, father, mentor and friend to countless others. He touched the lives of so many and will be sorely missed. He loved wildlife and its management. He was an avid bird-watcher whose constant companions were his beloved dogs. He so loved the outdoors and all of God’s creation. He is at peace now and feeling indescribable joy at seeing the paradise God originally created for us.
There will be a celebration of Terry’s life at Rabbit Hill (2880 County Road 39 in Selma) on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 1-3 p.m., with a short service at 1:30 p.m.
