Richard Clark Andrews, Sr., born August 22, 1955 in Birmingham, Alabama, passed away March 13, 2024. He was diagnosed with stage IV esophageal cancer at the end of January this year. After a short, yet very brave and courageous fight, he has received his ultimate healing in the arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior.
Clark was the son of Joseph Wheeler Andrews, Jr and Ann Steele Andrews. He graduated from Ensley High School, and would go on to attend the University of Montevallo earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. This is where he also met the love of his life, his wife Kathy Brislin Andrews. They shared a beautiful marriage for 46 years.
Clark worked in the flooring industry for 40 years. He also designed websites for small businesses. He retired in Spring 2023 and spent his retirement lovingly fulfilling his role as Grampy to his adoring granddaughter, Helen. They played daily in the pool and on the playground, sharing abundant energy, love, and joy.
Clark also enjoyed playing tennis and spending time with his family. He was a very talented artist and creative person. There was no home improvement project he couldn’t tackle.
Clark was so kind, gentle yet amazingly strong, and such a humble person. He was incredibly dedicated to his loved ones and would do anything he could to serve out of love. He had numerous loyal friends and his loss is being deeply felt by those who dearly loved and cherished him.
Clark was a devoted follower of Jesus and his love and faith were contagious. He would take every opportunity to share the Good News of the Gospel. No matter how many dark valleys he walked through, he knew and expressed that his hope and trust was in Jesus.
Clark is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his daughter, Katherine Ann Andrews Higgins (Andrew); his granddaughter, Helen Skylar Higgins; parents, Ann and Joe W. Andrews, Jr.; his sister, Dr. Sharon A. Sharp (Bobby); brother, D. Bruce Andrews; his niece, Lindley Sharp Curtis (Mark); and numerous other extended family.
Clark is predeceased by his daughter, Helen Ann Andrews Gilliland, and son, Richard Clark Andrews, Jr. We can only imagine the beautiful reunion they are sharing.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. for visitation at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. The graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
