Peggy McGlothlin Gaines

A 1956 graduate of Glenn High School, Peggy's professional career spanned several years in bookkeeping for Penny Real Estate. She was also employed in bookkeeping for Ticore Title Company until her retirement.

Peggy was an avid collector of antique, ladies' compacts, vintage silk bead purses, and antique cars. She was a generous donor to multitudes of charities.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, William Mack "Billy" Gaines, to whom she was happily married for 65 years. She is survived by one nephew, William "Keith" Welch; one niece, Alicia Welch; two great-nieces, Kaila Welch and Ann-Kathryn Smith; two great-nephews, Will Welch and Shelton Smith; and many special cousins, including special cousins Norene and Ronnie Bailey.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Riverchase Church of Christ in Birmingham from 12 noon to 1 p.m., immediately followed by A Celebration of Life for Peggy at 1 p.m. at the church, 1868 Montgomery Highway, Birmingham, AL 35244. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.
