Pamela “Lolly” Mooney was born on September 4, 1958 and entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, October 3, 2021. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Martha Truett.
Pam is survived by her husband of 40 years, Don; three sons, Jonathan (Rachel), Justin (Kellie), and Jared (Kathryn); her two granddaughters, Lea and Ellison; her brother, Terry (Toby); and many extended family members she cherished.
After graduating from UAB, she started her career as a Respiratory Therapist. She went back to school to receive her teachers certificate so that she could spend more time with her sons during holidays and summers. She worked at Thompson Middle School where she taught 7th grade science.
Pam fought a long courageous battle with cancer which she faced with a fighter’s, “never quit” attitude. As she fought, she clung to Matthew 11:28-30 and Psalm 118:17. She loved Jesus as her Lord and Savior and strived to share her faith with doctors, nurses, caregivers, and everyone else during her battle with cancer.
When she wasn’t spending time with her family or cross stitching her favorite Bible verses, she loved watching birds, squirrels, and deer in her backyard. She also enjoyed going to the beach, cruising around the Caribbean, visiting the wild bird exhibit at Oak Mountain State Park, and cheering for Alabama football.
Services will be held at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home's chapel. The gravesite committal service will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
Pam loved how the Gospel has been spread through The Gideons International ministry; so the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Gideons International, www.SendTheWord.org.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
