Opal "Bootsie" Barry

She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 23, 1931. Bootsie graduated from Phillips High School and received her high school diploma. On March 3, 1950, she married Jack S. Barry.

Bootsie devoted her life to being a loving and wonderful mom to all of her children. She was a member of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church and had a passion for golf, traveling in the RV, and playing cards with her church friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Barry, and her daughter, Denise Gurley.

Bootsie is survived by her children, Deborah McConnell (Bob), Donna Bell (Danny), and Jack Barry, Jr, her grandchildren, Keri McGehee (Andy), Jamie McConnell, Candi Jones (Barry), Barry Gurley (Amy), April Owen, Courtney Wood (Alex), Whitney McFarlin (Brian), Braden Bell (Ivy), Jackson Barry, and Sara Barry, her great-grandchildren, Andrew McGehee (Lindsey), Jonathan McGehee (Anna), Brooke Hunt (Cole), Jake McConnell, Hutt McConnell, Renlee Jones, Adlee Jones, Annaleigh Owen, Adalyn Owen, Emma Wood, Miles Wood, Grayson Bell, Barrett Bell, and great-great-grandchild, Andy McGehee.

A visitation for Bootsie will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 p.m.
