Norman "JACK" Lamar Collum, age 88 of Pelham, AL, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2023 at home, surrounded by people who loved him. He was born in Shelby County on April 17, 1934; the son of the late William D. Collum and the late Iwana Nelson Collum.
After graduating from high school, Jack joined the Marine Corps during the Korean War and proudly served his country. In his working life, Jack was employed as a salesman and real estate agent before running his own successful businesses in real estate, car sales and mobile homes. He was self-employed for more than 60 years. Jack was well-known in the local community and built many long-term friendships over the years.
Jack was a man of faith and enjoyed worshipping with a number of different Christian faith communities across his life. He loved Jesus and had a strong belief in the gospel. He held tight to his faith to the end.
Jack is survived by: his wife of 47 years, Jean Cox Collum of Pelham; Sons, David Collum of Helena, Mike Collum (Karen) of the Gold Coast, Australia and Jarred Collum of Pelham; Daughter, Tamie Fernandez (Jim) of Moody; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and sister and brother in laws.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023 at 11am at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham. A graveside service will follow the funeral.
