A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Church of God at Doe Run, 2004 Old Vandergriff Rd, Doe Run, MO on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at 1:00 pm.
Naomi was born August 27,1936 to James Wesley and Helen Marie Burch in Farmington, Missouri. She was one of 11 children and her love of her Burch family and time spent visiting Missouri brought her much joy over the years! She graduated from Flat River Junior College with an associate degree where upon graduation she traveled to Anchorage, Alaska to work and be near her father and several siblings.
In 1956 she met and married Jess W. Bangle at First Church of God in Anchorage. Together they had two children, Ronald E. Bangle, and Connie S. Barnhill (Bangle). Naomi was active in church throughout her life especially as a young mother helping to manage a Pre-K childcare program, teach Sunday school and volunteer wherever she was needed. She spent most of her adult life (45 years) in Texas where she co-owned and served as office manager of Family Portrait Album Company and later earned her Real Estate License as well as Brokers License, this at a time when not many women were in the real estate industry!
When Jess and Naomi’s marriage ended and after several years single, she met and married Edward Holben, a man she had been praying for. Naomi and Ed enjoyed many years together in Houston and traveled the USA and abroad as well as visits to her children. Many fond memories were made with her husband Ed, attending church together, holidays, Christmas pageants, time with her step-son Edward JR and his wife (Joan), making peanut brittle, thrift stores and yard sales, picking black berries and making cobbler for neighbors and friends!
Upon Edward’s passing and her retirement in 2006 she returned to live in Farmington to once again be close to her family where she attended Doe Run Church of God and where she enjoyed many wonderful friends, renewed old acquaintances and hosted bible studies in her home. In 2018 she moved to Birmingham, Alabama to live with her daughter Connie and son-in-law Don Barnhill. During her years in Birmingham Mom flourished and loved the time with the Barnhill's and attending church together at The Church at Brook Hills.
Naomi was a child of The Living God, a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to many. Her love for Jesus was paramount in her daily walk as she was a woman of great faith and was always ready when prompted by the Holy Spirit to give the reason for her joy in her Redeemer, Christ Jesus! Mom will be greatly missed yet those of us who knew her best know that her citizenry is in Heaven!! Praise God!
