Nancy Barnes Green born July 12, 1936 passed away peacefully on November 14, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents James Leonard Barnes and Lucy Carter Barnes, one brother John Michael Peake . She is survived by her children, Patti Green of Helena and James M Green, and her grandchildren, Sean Macias (Stephanie), Ryean Green , Mallory Green and Emily Green all of California. Two sisters, Patsy Barnes Hyde (George) of Hoover and Brenda Barnes Furr of Hoover, and brother, Lee Peake(Jackie). Nephews, Leonard Barnes Hyde (Tannie) of Anchorage, AK and Len Furr of Hoover.Nieces, Kim Jett (Chuck) of Hoover, Karla Blade(Ted) of Vancouver, WA and Camille Furr of Hoover. She is also survived by her stepmother, Edna S. Barnes. Mrs. Green attended Judson College, UAB and Samford University. While working on her masters degree at Samford, she received the award for Outstanding Graduate Student of the year. Professionally she enjoyed teaching at Fort Benning, GA, Leeds Elementary School, Baton Rouge Jr. High School, Hewitt Elementary School, Shades Valley High School, as well as being a curriculum writer for Jefferson County Schools, a resource teacher to supervisor of physical education and girls athletics in the Jefferson County School System. She taught gymnastics. She was a USGF judge as well as a swimming instructor and coach for Dana Pointe, CA aquatics. Mrs. Green was also featured in an Opthomalogy Medical Journal due to a very rare eye condition. Mrs. Green enjoyed being an active member, for the past 28 years at Hunter Street Baptist Church. While at Hunter Street, she especially enjoyed singing in the Joyful Singers Choir. She was faithful in attending, fellowshipping and enjoying life with her small group. She served the Lord in many different capacities at Hunter Street including, Sr. Adult Trip planning, fellowship coordinator and helping in many other ministries including Princeton VBS, missions and WMU. Funeral Services will be Monday, November 19, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Hunter Street Baptist Church in the Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham,AL.
