Maxine was a graduate of the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing at Samford University, Birmingham. She served as an RN at Montclair Hospital until her retirement.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Baker; her parents, Hancel and Bernice Burnett; and her brother, Hank Burnett.
Survivors include Maxine's son, David Ellis Murphree; daughter-in-law, Janet Murphree; granddaughter, Melanie McGinty of Boston, Massachusetts; grandson, Josh Murphree; and many friends who will cherish her memory.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. The Celebration of Maxine's Life will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Burial, Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to Cahaba Valley Dialysis Center.
