Maryann was born in Jackson, Mississippi on June 1, 1950. She graduated from Central High School in Jackson, Mississippi where she played clarinet in the school band. She also attended Copiah-Lincoln Junior College in Wesson, Mississippi.
After her childhood in Mississippi, Maryann resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Duncanville, Alabama; Hendersonville, Tennessee; Antioch, Tennessee; Laverne Tennessee; Alabaster, Alabama and Pelham, Alabama before finally settling in Calera, Alabama.
Maryann was a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Saint Thomas Hospital and Centennial Medical Center, both in Nashville, Tennessee. She enjoyed reading mysteries, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, cooking and thrift store shopping. She devoted countless hours to genealogical research and used her extensive crafting skills to support various activities and interests.
Maryann adored her children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching her “shows” with her beloved husband. She loved magnolias, unsweet tea, puzzles, playing cards, the Beatles and reading scripture. Her family will never forget her giddy joy each Christmas as she would wrap tiny gifts and put them in the largest stockings she could create!
Maryann is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jimmy Lee; daughters, Christine Lee of Birmingham, Alabama and Amy Lee Dunigan of Hoover, Alabama; grandson, Riley Adam Dunigan; sister, Karen McDonald (Terry) of Brandon, Mississippi, as well, extended family, friends and the amazing supporters from the Calera Senior Center.
Maryann is preceded in death by her parents, Desmond Ward and Loney Ward of Jackson, Mississippi, her in-laws, Donzie Lee and Nora Lee of Jackson, Mississippi and her grandson, Lucas Evan Dunigan of Hoover, Alabama.
