Mary Frances graduated from Hale County High School and received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama. She was a teacher for over 30 years in Decatur and other Alabama schools.
Mary Frances married William Kenneth Crawford on July 6, 1947. She was a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama, and her passions in life included the Gospel of Jesus Christ, missions, her family, and friends.
In addition to her husband, William Kenneth Crawford, Mary Frances was predeceased by her sister, Eloise M. Gilley, and brother, Edward Morland.
Survivors include Mary Frances' son, William Kenneth Crawford, Jr. (Joanna); her daughter, Peggy Ann Crawford Smitherman (Tom); grandchildren, Anna Kate Lax (John), April Christine Colburn (John), Ansley Caroline Smitherman, and Thomas James Smitherman, IV; and three great-grandchildren, John Isaac Lax, Caleb Lax, and Harvey Lax.
The family expresses appreciation for the staff at Maplewood Lane Assisted Living in Helena, Alabama for the kindness and care Mary Frances received over the past few years. Thanks also to the staff at Columbiana Health and Rehabilitation in Columbiana, Alabama for the kindness and care shown in these past few months.
The graveside service for Mary Frances Crawford will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Valhalla Cemetery, Birmingham.
