Martha Stanford Mann of Pelham left her earthly home to spend eternity with her heavenly father on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at the age of 78. Martha will be lovingly remembered by her children, David Calvin Mann (Ginny) of Winnsboro, TX, Daniel Robert Mann (Debbie) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Cynthia Mann Johnson (Chris) of Pelham, AL, Cathy Diane Mann of Vance, AL, by her grandchildren, Dylan Michael McQuarry, Christian Randal Capps, Ashlyn Morgan Capps, Jessica McQuarry Adkins (John), Chandler Shane Capps, Carson Holden Capps, and Alyssa Reese Johnson and by her brothers, Avery B. Stanford, Jr. (Marti) and William Leland Stanford (Ve) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Martha was a sweet and beautiful Christian lady who spent her entire life loving the Lord and helping others. Her kindness and generosity showed as she helped her church sew and stuff bears for local hospitals to be given to children and sewed dresses for children in other countries. Martha also had a love for nature and being outside walking and exercising. She enjoyed spending time in her yard watching and listening to the birds that visited her feeders and baths. She also loved plants and flowers and had a knack for making things grow which was evident by her beautiful gardens she maintained. When once asked what was her secret, she said that it was because she talked to them. Martha was very artistic and loved to draw, craft and paint. Her biggest gift of all was sewing. Throughout her life, she used these talents making her children and grandchildren hand-made clothes and gifts from Sunday School dresses to prom dresses, Christmas pajamas, stuffed animals, dolls, blankets, pillows and purses. All of her grandchildren cherish their unique hand-made gifts from their grandmother.
Martha’s love for God and her family and all of the memories they have of her will be cherished forever.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Avery Benson and Johanna Jane Stanford and by her sister, Patricia Ann Oliver.
A memorial service to remember Martha will be held at Riverchase Church of Christ and set at a later date. Those who desire may make donations in memory of Martha to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, theaftd.org.
