Marie Rose Turkiewicz, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Aunt, was born to eternal life on Tuesday evening, August 7. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Marie graduated from Howard College in 1955 with a Bachelor’s degree in music. Shortly thereafter, she married her sweetheart and college piano teacher, Witold. They then embarked on an amazing journey together, raising eight children, traveling the world on dozens of cruises, and were blessed with 28 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Marie had many passions. With her Italian heritage, she devoted much of her time to cooking and baking for her very large family and loved sharing her special recipes with her children and grandchildren. She loved family visits, playing canasta, and singing with family around the piano. Marie was cantor and choir soloist under the direction of her husband, Witold, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Her extremely beautiful voice blessed numerous families throughout her singing career. She joined Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church with her beloved husband, where they attended with devotion. Marie was dearly loved by all of her family. We will forever love and honor her.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 12, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Followed by the Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral will be held on Monday, August 13 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage.
