Born on Nov. 29, 1954 in Birmingham to Betty and Ray Madison, Cindy would marry the love of her life, Wrendon Davis, on May 6, 1978. Together they had two daughters, Lurenda and Nichole. Professionally, she would become the owner and operator of Davis Design—touching countless homes and lives with her signature style and charm. Ever the outgoing personality, Cindy was involved in numerous organizations, including Crumley Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member and served as a trustee; the Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders (GBAHB); The Home Builders Association of Alabama (HBAA); the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB); and the Jefferson County Zoning and Planning Commission where she served for 10 years. She received countless awards and recognition including the prestigious Associate of the year by both GBAHB and HBAA; the GBAHB Buddy Berry Lifetime Achievement Award; the GBAHB Hall of Fame; and the NAHB Life Director designation. While she deeply appreciated the recognition from her peers, the true highlight of her time was the close friendships and memories she made with the people she came to think of as family. When not using her creativity and imagination at work, she enjoyed gardening and transforming simple wildflowers into gorgeous arrangements to showcase God’s beauty. She used this skill to decorate the cross for her church family each Easter, showcasing her love for her Savior and the beauty around her. While she loved to travel and was always up for an adventure, she could typically be found enjoying a good sunset and evening boat cruise on Lake Martin with her family and friends. Strongly devoted to her family, she always put the needs of others before herself. With her contagious smile and that twinkle in her eye, she loved telling a good—if not long—joke or story. Often called a “collector or strays” of both people and animals, she always had an open seat at her table, a hot meal, a cozy bed or just an open ear ready for anyone in need. In short, Cindy was a bringer of joy to anyone she encountered. She is remembered and loved by her husband, Wrendon Davis; daughters Lurenda Avery (Ben) and Nichole Davis; and grandchildren Elijah Hatcher, Adeline Hatcher, Jeffery Avery and Chelsea Avery. Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Betty Madison; sister, Pam Madison; and granddaughter Olivia Avery.
