Louise was a faithful wife, cherished mother, and generous friend. A Morgan County, Alabama native, she earned her business degree in Birmingham, Alabama before retiring as bookkeeper at Strickland Paper Company. During the 14 years she was employed as the church hostess at Shades Mountain Baptist Church, she also devoted countless hours as a seamstress and cooked meals on many of the church’s mission trips.
In 1999, Louise moved to Madison, Alabama, where she joined the First Baptist Church. In 2008, she continued to live close to her two sons and their families when she moved to Huntsville. She resided there until her death.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, William David Kennedy; her parents, Hathro Bascom Maples and Frances T. Cora Clark Maples; four sisters, Parthenia “Polly” Clementine Hendrix, Roxie Dimple King, Dixie Marjorie McClure, and Corene Beam; and four brothers, Lawrence Conard Maples, John Howard Maples, Newt Hughie Maples, and Guy Maples.
Survivors include Louise’s two sons, Michael D. Kennedy of Huntsville and James Paul Kennedy of Madison; daughter-in-law, Tracey Kennedy of Madison; and two grandsons, Joshua David Kennedy and Aaron Joseph Kennedy, both of Madison.
The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer, Alabama. Rev. Mary Jo Gessner will officiate.
