Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Milton Duncan Sr.; her father, Walter; her mother, Lucy; sisters, Helen, Edith, Betty, and Wilma; and brothers, Dick, Bud, and Richard. She is survived by brothers, Bill, Bobby, and James; two sons, Ellis Milton Duncan Jr. and Russell Andrew Duncan; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Duncan was an avid gardener in her later years and kept hundreds of daylilies for several years. She loved her sons very much and said they were the best things she had done in life.
She attended and graduated at age 16 from Minor High School and struck out on her own to find a job in the city. She was a child of the Depression, and World War II made an impression on her as a teenager. She was an avid student of World War II and surprised many with her depth of knowledge of that conflict.
Mrs. Duncan worked in the family business with her husband for over 20 years. She was always a strong and independent thinker.
The graveside service for Mrs. Duncan will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.
