Lonnie James Mims

Lonnie James Mims, Sr., age 61, of Alabaster, AL, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, after suffering from Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome. He was surrounded by loving family members during his final hours.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Herman Donald Sr. and Alice Inez Mims.

Lonnie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Laura Inabinet Mims, their two children, Lonnie “Jamie” Mims Jr. (Kennedie) and Madison Mims. Along with his brothers Don Mims (Kathryn) and Doug Mims (Lisa), his sister Donna Blankenship (Paul), and his one grandson, Lincoln.

He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and Pop-Pop to his grandson. Lonnie found great joy in spending time with family and friends. His contagious laugh and zest for life touched many hearts. Lonnie was well-known in the formal wear business for his easygoing nature and kind heart.

A visitation to celebrate Lonnie’s life will be held April 10, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Lonnie will later be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
