May Laura Jean, age 60 of Helena, Alabama, passed away on June 20, 2015. Laura is survived by her mother, Ms. Jean May; sister, Dee (Mike) Weeks; brother, Richard (Leigh) May; nephew, Wilson May. Laura also leaves behind to cherish her memory many friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Mr. Gene May. Laura attended the University of Montevallo and W.A. Berry High School; she retired as Vice President of Mailsouth in 2003. Laura was an avid reader and loved her family and friends; she hosted Thanksgiving Dinner at her house every year for her family and also hosted the “Haggard Shoppers” at the Riverchase Galleria for her friends for over 25 years. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 10am until 11am, with the Celebration of Life Service starting at 11am at Southern Heritage Funeral Home; burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery. Laura was a generous contributor to many charities, in lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Jimmy Hale Mission or a charity of your choice in Laura’s memory.
