Larry graduated from Green High School in Akron, Ohio. He attended Lee University where he was a part of the “Lee Singers” choir. He later attended The Ohio State University before earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in labor relations at Akron University.
A Vietnam Veteran, he served eight years in the U.S. Army achieving the rank of Captain before an Honorable Discharge in 1974.
Larry worked for the U.S. Postal Service for several decades and was a Postmaster for the several years before his retirement in 2015. He was a former member of the board of directors for Sav-A-Life Shelby County, Alabama and a LifeSouth Apheresis donor, donating over 100 times.
Larry loved everyone and was happy all of the time. He had a tremendous faith in God and a deep love for his family and his wife, Bette, whom he affectionately called "Honey.”
Survivors include Larry's wife, the former Bette Jean Danielson, to whom he was married on March 22, 1975; one daughter, Rebecca Ann Plaster Bishop of Columbus, Ohio; sons, Justin Mark Plaster of Pelham, Alabama, and Andrew Plaster and wife Christie of Hoover, Alabama; grandchildren, Brooke Bishop Ohnmeis and husband Tyler of Chicago, Illinois, Alex Plaster and Nathan Plaster of Columbus, Ohio, Alaina Plaster of Troy, Alabama, and Ellie Everett, Katie Marie Everett, Andy Everett, Luke Plaster, Juliet Plaster, and Lillian Plaster, all of Hoover, Alabama; his two brothers, Mark Plaster of Massillon, Ohio and Edward Plaster (Paula) of Ocala, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, their spouses, and their children.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Mark Plaster and Stella Baldwin Plaster Adams, and his eldest son, Larry Lee Plaster, Jr.
